About

Background

I'm a software developer based in Ottawa, Canada, currently in my mid-thirties. I build internal tools, data pipelines, and AI-powered systems for HR and people operations.

My path here was unconventional: degrees in Biochemistry (BSc.) and Neurophysiology (MSc.), then a pivot to HR systems implementation. I taught myself Python in 2018, and what started as automation scripts has since become full-stack development and AI tooling.

Personal

I have a bad habit of building lots of side projects in private and not participating in communities - mostly due to a weird online social anxiety that doesn't seem to exist in person. Cas Stantonius is a new (internet) identity — a chance to reinvent and shield myself from those old fears.

I'm not sure what this blog's purpose is other than some outlet for the persistent and relentless internal chatter that is my brain.
