One of my favourite bloggers, Simon Willison, has said the following several times

I believe that the price you have to pay for taking on a project is writing about it afterwards.

On this thread, Simon mentions that you need screenshots of the work in a Github repo (or wherever the project is). This is an extremely simple but good reminder - visual examples is key to conveying what you've done.
