A machine need not be perfect, or even particularly good at something, to be educationally useful. There are advantages to using fallible teaching machines as long as we keep in mind their specific forms of fallibility and understand them as tools to be used by humans rather than as human replacements. The purpose of an educational tool is to make us think, not think for us.
